Observations based on Activities 3.5, 3.6, and 3.7 (pages 14–16):

  • Starch Test (Activity 3.5): A blue-black color after adding iodine indicates starch presence. Potato, boiled rice, and bread/chapati turn blue-black due to high starch content. Cucumber, boiled gram, peanuts, butter, coconut, and egg do not show this change.
  • Fat Test (Activity 3.6): An oily patch on paper indicates fat presence. Peanuts, butter, coconut, and egg show oily patches due to their fat content. Potato, cucumber, boiled rice, boiled gram, and bread/chapati do not.
  • Protein Test (Activity 3.7): A violet color after adding copper sulphate and caustic soda indicates protein presence. Boiled gram, peanuts, and egg turn violet due to their protein content. Potato, cucumber, boiled rice, bread/chapati, butter, and coconut do not.
  • Additional Item: Egg (boiled) was added as an extra food item, consistent with protein-rich animal sources (page 7).
  • Conclusion: Peanuts and egg contain multiple nutrients (fat and protein). Most foods contain at least one nutrient, but cucumber lacks all three tested nutrients.
